Report for 2025 under Budget Program 217 “Development of Science” within the framework of grant funding of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Project AR23490147. “Development of Technology for Intensive Meliorative Improvement of Degraded Irrigated Lands Using a Highly Efficient Organomineral Compost-Ameliorant”.

            Project objective: development of a technology for intensive meliorative improvement of degraded irrigated lands in southern Kazakhstan using a highly efficient organomineral compost-ameliorant.

           Research area: Studies of current issues of soil quality, land degradation, and desertification.

           Field of application: Natural sciences, Earth and environmental sciences. Earth sciences.

          Objectives for 2025:

            – conducting field studies on an experimental plot to determine the integrated effect of the obtained organomineral compost-ameliorant on the growth and development of agricultural crops and on the improvement of the meliorative condition of degraded irrigated lands;

           – development of a technology for intensive meliorative improvement of degraded irrigated lands in southern Kazakhstan using a highly efficient organomineral compost-ameliorant;

           – obtaining a patent for the invention;

           – preparation and publication of 1 (one) article in peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science database and/or having a CiteScore percentile of at least 50 in the Scopus database.

              The research methodology consisted of comprehensive laboratory and field studies aimed at investigating the effectiveness of applying organomineral compost-ameliorant to improve the meliorative condition of degraded irrigated lands in southern Kazakhstan and increase the productivity of agricultural crops.

             The studies were focused on examining the effect of different application rates of organomineral compost-ameliorant on the agrophysical and agrochemical properties of the soil, including changes in humus content, degree of salinity, and soil solution reaction (pH). At the same time, the impact of the compost-ameliorant on the growth, development, and yield of agricultural crops was assessed.

            To evaluate the effectiveness of the developed technology, monitoring of the meliorative condition of the experimental plots was carried out, the dynamics of changes in soil fertility indicators were analyzed, and the experimental data were statistically processed using generally accepted methods of mathematical statistics and analysis of variance.

           Laboratory analyses of soil and water samples were performed according to current standard methodologies in the chemical laboratory of Kazakh Research Institute of Water Economy (KazSRIWE).

           As a result of the work, scientifically substantiated data were obtained on the effectiveness of using organomineral compost-ameliorant for the intensive meliorative improvement of degraded irrigated lands in southern Kazakhstan. Its influence on the agrophysical, agrochemical, and meliorative properties of soils, as well as on the growth, development, and yield of the agricultural crop cotton, was established.

            As a result of the research, a technology for the application of a highly efficient organomineral compost-ameliorant to improve the meliorative condition of degraded irrigated lands was developed, a patent was obtained, and 1 (one) scientific article was submitted to a peer-reviewed scientific journal indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science database and/or having a CiteScore percentile of at least 50 in the Scopus database.

Scope of application of the results: degraded irrigated lands of agricultural enterprises of all forms of ownership.

           The significance of the work lies in the development of a technology for intensive meliorative improvement of degraded irrigated lands in southern Kazakhstan using a highly efficient organomineral compost-ameliorant obtained through chemical and biological decomposition processes and mixing of activated sludge from domestic wastewater with the mineral chemical ameliorant phosphogypsum.

            Forecast proposals for the development of the research object include scaling up the R&D results through the implementation of the technology for intensive meliorative improvement of degraded irrigated lands in southern Kazakhstan using a highly efficient organomineral compost-ameliorant.

            All works according to the R&D calendar plan were completed in full. The report for 2025 is presented in the form of brief information.
