Meeting with a Representative of the British Embassy Held at the Kazakh Research Institute of Water Economy LLP

On 14 July, the Kazakh Research Institute of Water Economy LLP hosted a working meeting with Tom Pearson, Head of Climate and Green Transition at the British Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Tom Pearson leads the Embassy’s work on climate diplomacy, the energy transition, biodiversity conservation, water security, and green economic growth. A key focus of his work is fostering practical cooperation between the United Kingdom and Kazakhstan in the field of sustainable development.

During the meeting, the participants discussed current climate-related priorities, prospects for expanding scientific and expert cooperation, and exchanged views on the implementation of modern approaches to sustainable development and the green transition.

Mr. Pearson outlined the key areas of his work, including the development of renewable energy, modernization of electricity infrastructure, promotion of green finance and carbon markets, conservation of natural ecosystems, and strengthening regional cooperation among Central Asian countries on climate change.

The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere and reaffirmed the mutual interest of both sides in further developing cooperation aimed at implementing joint initiatives in climate policy, sustainable development, and the adoption of green technologies.
