From June 8 to 14, 2026, M.S. Mirdadayev, Deputy General Director for Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Water Economy, participated in the international training program “DeepBas: Integrated Artificial Intelligence Technologies for Water Resources Management”, organized by the College of Geographic Information, Zhejiang University of Technology. The training was held in Deqing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai, People’s Republic of China.
During the seminar, participants explored modern approaches to water resources management in arid and semi-arid regions using artificial intelligence technologies. Specialized models for data integration, dynamic modeling and forecasting of water resources, intelligent monitoring, river basin management, and irrigation system optimization were presented. Particular attention was given to the practical application of digital technologies for supporting decision-making in the water sector.
As part of the training program, participants visited leading Chinese high-tech companies and research centers, including Hangzhou Shenhao Technology Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Zhonghe Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Huace Navigation Technology Co., Ltd., Tudou Data Technology Group Co., Ltd., as well as the Moganshan Geoinformation Laboratory. Participants were introduced to advanced digital solutions in geoinformation technologies, satellite navigation, and artificial intelligence for water resources management, environmental monitoring, and natural hazard prevention.
Participation in the training provided an opportunity to study international best practices in the application of artificial intelligence and spatio-temporal analytics in the water sector, establish professional contacts with foreign researchers and experts, and identify promising areas for future scientific cooperation and the implementation of innovative digital solutions for water resources management in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
