  Report for 2025 on the budget program 217 “Development of Science” within the framework of grant funding from the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan AR23485228. “Increasing water availability of irrigated lands with reuse of drainage water for irrigation.”
           The purpose of the program: Increasing the water availability of irrigated lands with the reuse of drainage and reset water for irrigation of agricultural crops.
Scope: Natural Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Earth Sciences
Program Objectives:
To achieve the Project’s stated goal, the following objectives must be addressed:
Collection and generalization of long-term materials on the technical condition of irrigation systems, the qualitative composition of surface, drainage waters, the degree of salinization, alkalinity of soils in irrigated lands of Maktаaral, Zhetysai districts of Turkestan region.
Selection and equipment of 2 experimental sites for adaptation and demonstration of the technology for reusing drainage-reset water for irrigation of crops;
Sampling of irrigated soils and water for chemical analysis to assess their qualitative composition;
Establishing limits for the use of drainage-reset water for irrigation of crops;
Establishing the influence of the use of drainage-reset water on the ecological, reclamation state of irrigated lands;
Development of 1 technology for the reuse of drainage-reset water for irrigation of crops:
Preparation of 1 recommendation on the use of drainage-reset water on irrigated lands;
Development and preparation of 1 patent for a utility model based on the results of scientific research work;
Conducting a “Field Day” and training agricultural producers in the use of technologies for the reuse of drainage, reset water for irrigation;
Introduction of technology for the reuse of drainage-reset water for irrigation of crops on area of 2 hectares;
Preparation of 3 articles for publication in peer-reviewed scientific publications indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science database and (or) having a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 50;
As well as 1 article or review in a peer-reviewed foreign or domestic publication recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education;
Publication of 1 article in scientific journals or conferences.
To address these objectives, pilot plots covering a total area of 2 hectares will be established on the irrigated lands of the Ketebay Production Cooperative in the Zhetysay District and the Andas Farmstead in the Maktaaral District of the Turkestan Region. The pilot plots will be equipped with water meters to determine the volume of water supplied to the pilot plots. Piezometers will be installed in the pilot plot to determine the dynamics of the groundwater level and salinity of drainage water. The salinity of surface and drainage water, as well as the chemical analysis of irrigated soils, will be determined in the chemical laboratory of the Kazakh Research Institute of Water Management. The project will also utilize data from both recent and previous research conducted by the Department of Land Reclamation, Ecology, and Water Supply of the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Water Economy.
Results:
Data on the degree and type of salinization of irrigated lands was collected and data on the qualitative composition of surface and drainage waters, the degree of salinization, and alkalinity of soils in irrigated lands in the Maktaaral and Zhetysay districts of the Turkestan region were summarized.

– The 2025 work program was approved at Academic Council meeting No. 2 on March 11-12, 2025.
– One Kazakhstani patent, No. 9800, was received for “Hydro-feeder for the preparation of collector-drainage water in an open canal” for a utility model based on the results of research and development. (Authors: Amanbaeva B.Sh., Dzhaysambekova R.A., Basmanov A.V., Shaidullina E.G., Balgabaev N.N., Salimbaev R.R., Basmanov I.V.).
Surface and drainage water samples were collected for chemical analysis and their quality. Soil samples from irrigated lands were collected for chemical analysis.
Limits for drainage water use for irrigation were established.
Based on the results of processing and analyzing the qualitative composition of irrigated soils in the experimental plots, the ecological and meliorative status of the soils in the experimental plots was determined.
Field research was conducted to develop technologies for the reuse of drainage water for crop irrigation.
A “Field Day” and training for agricultural producers on the application of drainage water reuse technologies for irrigation were held on August 6, 2025, in the Zhetysay district of the Turkestan region.
Based on the results of the research, one “Technology for Increasing Water Availability with the Reuse of Drainage and Waste Water for Irrigation of Agricultural Crops” was developed.
1 (one) article was published in a domestic publication recommended by the Science and Higher Education Quality Assurance of the Ministry of science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
