Program Title: «Development of technology for intensive reclamation improvement of degraded irrigated lands using highly effective organomineral compost-meliorant» (Budget Program 254 «Efficient Water Resources Management»).
Objective: To ensure the water security of the Republic of Kazakhstan through the efficient distribution of annually renewable water resources across all water management basins.
Key Program Tasks
The program focuses on a comprehensive approach to water management through 8 specialized activities:
- Assessment and forecasting of renewable surface and groundwater resources.
- Information support for the expansion of irrigated lands using space and ground monitoring.
- Reducing water costs via water-saving irrigation technologies and digitalization of water accounting.
- Optimizing the use of surface, ground, and collector-drainage waters while assessing their impact on land reclamation.
2024 Research Results
During the 2024 reporting period, the project achieved the following:
- Developed a Methodology for space and ground monitoring to track the expansion of prospective irrigated lands.
- Established working programs and detailed methodologies for conducting R&D according to the project work plan.
- Successfully completed all scheduled works in full compliance with the R&D calendar plan.
Scientific Output & Publications
The research results were published in eight scientific papers across various journals, covering topics such as:
- Current states of hydrological monitoring systems in Geography and Water Resources.
- Assessments of climate change and anthropogenic impacts on water resources in Science and World.
- Technical evaluations of irrigation systems in Southern Kazakhstan and groundwater resources in Western Kazakhstan.
- Reclamation problems and degradation processes in the Syr Darya River basin.
The annual report for 2024 was prepared in accordance with GOST 7.32-2017 and is officially registered at the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise (Inventory No. 0224RK00921).
