In Talgar, a training seminar on professional development was held for employees of the water management sector of the Big Almaty Canal named after D. A. Konaev.

As part of the Human Resources Development Program for the water sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a specialized training seminar was conducted from June 1 to June 5 at the branch of the RSE “Kazvodkhoz” — the “Big Almaty Canal named after D. A. Konaev” (Talgar). The event was aimed at enhancing the qualifications of engineers, hydraulic technicians, and operational staff responsible for the uninterrupted operation and modernization of one of the region’s key water arteries.
Main topics of the lecture course included:
• Innovations in hydraulic engineering: implementation of automated water accounting systems and efficient distribution of water resources.
• Safety and operations: maintenance of main canals and hydraulic structures, as well as prevention of emergency situations.
• Irrigation challenges: ensuring irrigation water supply for farmers in the Almaty region under changing climate conditions.
• Legislation: new requirements of the Water Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and environmental standards in water resource management.
Participants of the course thoroughly examined practical case studies related to mechanized canal cleaning and water flow management along the entire length of the Big Almaty Canal. Upon completion of the lectures, all participants who successfully passed the assessment were awarded professional development certificates. The updated knowledge of employees will contribute to improving the overall reliability of water supply and reducing water losses during transportation.
