Issues of combining science and industry discussed in Kyzylorda

A field meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Kyzylorda.

The meeting discussed the implementation of the tasks of the Address of the Head of State, the transition from a raw material model of the economy to deep product processing, the efficient use of water resources, the introduction of digital technologies, and the strengthening of the role of regional science.

The meeting was attended by the first deputy akim of the region Daniyar Zhanalinov, deputy akim of the region Ardak Zebeshov, President of the National Academy of Sciences Akylbek Kurishbayev. Also joining the meeting online were the Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, members of the academy, heads of universities, scientists and representatives of the business community.

The meeting included a presentation of the “DeepBas” project, and proposals were made on water resources management, agro-industrial complex development, environmental sustainability, scientific support for the processing industry, and integrated processing of mineral raw materials in the mining industry.

– The President identified science as the main driving force of the country’s development and called increasing scientific potential a strategic priority. The share of research expenditures in the total regional product was included as a special indicator in the regional development plan for 2026–2030. A scientific council was created under the regional akimat and a comprehensive work plan was approved, – said Daniyar Zhanalinov.

According to him, over the past three years, about 4 billion tenge has been allocated to the development of science. Last year alone, 1.3 billion tenge was allocated to this area, which is a fivefold increase in funding compared to 2020. Currently, more than 400 specialists are engaged in research and experimental work in the region.

In addition, the Kazakh Rice Research Institute named after Y. Zhakayev is implementing seven scientific projects.

The meeting was attended by heads of research institutes, scientific-production centers, and universities. As a result, a resolution and a joint work plan were adopted to develop water resources management, ecology, processing, and the food industry in the Kyzylorda region.

As part of the field trip, a foresight session was organized, during which academy specialists taught representatives of local enterprises how to identify technological gaps. An exhibition of innovative developments ready for implementation at regional enterprises was also held.
